In our July 2020 issue, we highlighted Dr. Margaret Renew, MD.
She and I met months ago in mid-January, and on that initial chat, I absolutely knew that I both wanted to highlight her and her work, and as well, share her story with all of you. We are all far better off knowing her!
My first impressions of Dr. Renew is that she is a person who is not unfamiliar with laughter. She loves to smile and laugh. There is also an easy and gentleness about her that makes one seem that they’re spending time with a dear and close friend. She has a poise and purpose about her that allows her to enter deeply into conversations while giving of herself to the other party. This is rare in today’s world, as people tend to listen to speak. She is a pure and wonderful example of the opposite, and until you encounter such a person, you’ll just have to take my word for it … it's absolutely refreshing!
Dr. Renew has a deep love for her family (husband, kids, grandchildren and church body) only because of her strong faith in God. She is humble and acknowledges Him in all that she does. This faith, I can clearly see, not only holds her together and her family, but also plays an essential role in the climate and culture of her practice. When visiting her for the photoshoot, I was introduced to several staff members who have been with her more than 20 years! They are truly a family working together towards a common goal.
Some of the things that I most appreciate about my time learning about Dr. Renew are her love of continual education, willingness to take risks and her love for adventure! I was surprised to hear of the large number of adventures she’s been on with her husband over the years! White-water rafting, kayaking, fishing, hiking, camping, island hopping, orphanage serving … it seems there’s not been much they haven’t experienced! I felt like I had stumbled upon an encyclopedia and a national geographic magazine in human form!
Needless to say, I had such an amazing time putting this issue and article together. I truly hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did! As always, if you would like to learn more about the magazine or want to be a closer part of the community your peers are building, please don’t hesitate to reach out and let me know.
